1. Types of activity
These are some of the activities that we can use in order to help students to improve their writing skills:
- Roleplay (The students write the dialogue)
- Create a kind of diary where you can write your thoughts
- Write reports about interviews, movies, documentaries, articles, etc
- Make a tale or story from using a card with a specific image
- Make a poem, song or proverb from a meaningful experience you lived
Exercise: Design an activity where students must write a report about their favorite movie, making use of connectors and strong adjectives.
2. Tips for teachers
- Select the topics based on the likes and interests of students
- Make use of students experiences
- Include new vocabulary that students can use in real life context
- Motivate students to read aloud and share what they write with their partners
- Include other skills like reading and listening
- Promote a space where students correct each others mistakes
- Read a sample letter and identify its parts
- Picture dictation
- Translating
- Chaining/combining sentences
- Substitution tables (Written)
- Answering comprehension questions
- Imagine it- draw it- describe it.
- Emphasizing on connectors
